The Kalahari Resorts Associate Kalahari Cares program provides short-term, emergency support to associates or eligible dependents that are experiencing a financial hardship resulting from a sudden, severe unexpected event that is beyond their control.  The event results in significant pressure on the family’s financial resources.  The Nelson Family Life Foundation administers the Kalahari Cares and in its sole discretion determines incident eligibility and grant amount.

This is just the beginning. We value you and your daily contributions to Kalahari. As we continue to grow, we will continue to grow this program.

Criteria for Funding and Application

  • Those eligible for consideration of a grant from the Kalahari Cares are:

    • Kalahari Resorts active, regular full-time and Part-time associates.

    • In the case of death of the associate, then the spouse or eligible dependents may apply.

    • Other Associates or property General Managers may apply for the associate in need.

    • An Associate can only apply once for each incident.

  • The maximum grant amount available for assistance will vary based on the incident. The maximum grant is $5,000. When possible the payment will be made directly to vendors.

  • To qualify for this program and receive assistance you must meet certain requirements:

    1. You must meet the Kalahari Cares Eligibility.

    2. You must be experiencing financial hardship due to the unexpected nature of the qualifying incident.

    3. The qualifying incident must have happened with the past 60 days.

    4. Your situation must fall into one of the following four categories:

      2. Catastrophic Illness or Injury: The Crisis Fund is not a substitute for medical insurance; associates do not automatically qualify for a grant when they, or their dependents, are diagnosed with or suffer a life-threatening or serious illness or injury. There must be resulting financial need placing a significant pressure on the family’s financial resources. Doctor confirmation and/or medical documentation may be required.

      3. Death Incident: This includes the death of the associates, spouse, parent or eligible dependents. The loss of income or the cost of funeral expenses or medical bills must significantly impact the family’s resources.

      4. Catastrophic or Extreme Circumstances: This includes but is not limited to: fire, major home damage that could not be prevented, serious crime against the associate (robbery, arson, assault, domestic abuse or another reportable crime) that significantly impacts the family’s resources. Official Incident Reports may be required.

Assistance grants do not include reduced work hours or pay (lost compensation due to missed time from work); items covered by insurance; credit card bills; home foreclosure; car repair; accumulated financial distress; accidental damages due to negligence; or legal fees.
